The Friends and Family "Cash for Gold"

The price for gold has increased greatly in the last couple of years and many people are selling their broken and unused gold jewelry for cash. But what is it worth and are you being paid a fair price?

A survey performed on July 10, 2009 when the gold market closed at $912.38/oz. produced the following results. A local national check cashing business was paying $10.75/gram and a local pawn shop was paying just slightly more than $11.00/gram. The much advertised radio, TV and Internet company was only paying $2.90/gram for your gold. Naturally, if you refused their check settlement they will counter offer and raise the amount in hopes of appeasing you.

So what would Schuck Jewelers be paying you that same day? We were converting broken and unused gold jewelry and paying $15.34/gram.

So how can we do that? We will pay you the full value (less the cost of shipping and insurance) we receive from a manufacturer who will recycle your gold into new products which reduces the environmental impact from mining new gold at the same time. The net amount is given to you as a GIFT CARD usable at Schuck Jewelers.

Can't use a gift card? Simply sell it to a friend or family member at a discount. You both get a better deal than selling it for cash at most gold buying locations.

We invite our Friends and Family to send in photos and their stories telling us how the gift of jewelry from Schuck Jewelers was given or why you gave the gift. Share your happiness with others.

You guys always have great stories how you presented "The Ring" so tell us. We'll share your story.

Email your stories and photos in a jpeg format to FriendsandFamily@schuckjewelers.com for consideration. We will only use your first name(s) on any story chosen to be included. If multiple photos are submitted, under normal circumstances only one photo will be posted. If you wish, you may also bring into the store the information and your instructions.

Schuck Jewelers reserves the right to accept or refuse a submission of a story and/or photos and accepts no liability for simply posting a submission on our website. In addition, after a period of time chosen by Schuck Jewelers, a posting may be removed to keep Story Board fresh with new postings. A request by the submitter to remove a post will be honored as quickly as permitted.

Our Engagement!!

My now husband, Brent Tewksbury, had enlisted in the U.S. Navy in June of 2008. During the 8 weeks he was gone that summer for Boot Camp, he wrote letters to my parents asking their permission to ask me to marry him the day he graduated on August 8th, 2008 when he knew I would be there to see him. My mom tricked me into showing her my dream engagement ring, and both of our moms went and got that ring at Schuck Jewelers.

On August 8th, 2008, His family and I traveled to Great Lakes, Illinois to watch him graduate, and my family decided to make a weekend trip to Chicago (knowing he was planning to propose) and met us for dinner at Olive Garden that evening.

Right after dinner, before the waiters could box up our leftovers, Brent took my hand and gave me the most romantic speech I had ever hoped to hear, with me crying all the while. At the end of his speech he got down on one knee in front of me, our families, and the entire restaurant, and asked me to marry him. Of course I said yes!

It was my dream ring, my dream proposal, and he is my dream husband! Thank you Schuck Jewelers for giving me my dream ring, and helping to make the most memorable event in my life that I remember every time I look down at my finger!!
