Most jewelry stores at the turn of the 20th century were founded by a watchmaker. Schuck Jewelers was founded by George J. Schuck, a master watchmaker, in 1916. Today the tradition continues with a grandson, Bruce M. Bechtol, offering watch repair services.

Professionally trained horologists, better known as watchmakers, peaked in this country around 1950 with over 50,000 professionals working in the nation's jewelry stores, trade shops and manufacturers. Today, there are only about 8000 men and women who practice this skilled profession. Bruce is a graduate of Gem City College, School of Horology located in Quincy, Illinois. He is still active with over 30 years experience and has trade accreditations from Bulova, Seiko and Citizen watch companies as well as other specific training.

We offer full repair service for most mechanical watches including vintage wristwatches and pocket watches, tuning fork and quartz watches.
